Winter pics

Long time overdue!

Its been a LONG time since our last post despite the many, many things that have happened recently!

To finish out the year we had a friend from Canada come for a long weekend. Kelly & I met at PwC while he was working in Houston & were very excited to be able to catch up as it's been too long since we saw him last. We planned a fun filled football weekend & the goal of filling Kelly with as much queso & Mexican food as possible. As many of you know we saw the t.u. game in Austin & yes, we wore orange to complete Kelly's first college football game experience. It was also Sam's first game at the Texas stadium & my first back since the big renovation. We then completed the weekend with a Texans game on Monday night & had a blast even though we were still recovering from our big night out on 6th street & our many trips to Lupe tortilla. =)

To finish out the year Sam and I then took 2 weeks off for Christmas and headed up North to see my family. We had a great time hanging out on the ranch, sightseeing in Seattle, catching up with long time family friends and our fave - snowmobiling!

We had both just gotten over nasty colds that started around Thanksgiving but were lucky enough to get healthy just in time for the trip. Being up in the cold was really great for us too. We lounged around with grandma a lot while we were there and felt quite rested when we got back. I was super tired from the flight home though & we decided not to drive down to Corpus that weekend to pick up the dogs from Sam's parents who were sweet enough to watch them the entire time we were gone.

Unfortunately, the dogs had been plotting their escape for 2 weeks and made their move a few days after we got back. Fortunately Sam's dad was home & was able to round up 2 of them shortly after they got out of the yard. A few hours later Cooper came home to us, alone.

We loved our short time with our sweet puppy, Tex and are grateful to have had him in our lives because he was one of the very best dogs ever. We miss him greatly but Cooper has been very loving & has been on his best behavior for us.

Shortly after we returned we both got super busy at work, especially since it was year end for me. Thankfully Sam was able to keep our house under control while I worked weekends which helped greatly when I came down with yet another cold or allergies or whatever it was. Not fun to relive the same illness I'd just fought at Thanksgiving! Thankfully I'm much better now & finally getting back into the swing of things & starting to exercise again. You wouldn't believe how much I've missed being outside & can't wait to get back to the gym!!

We celebrated Sam's 31st birthday last weekend with friends & a big trip to the furniture store. We both thoroughly enjoyed catching up with friends & being able to spend quality time with them over dinner. And of course we can't wait for our new "loving" room furniture to arrive. Yes, for those of you who missed it on Facebook I misspelled living room & instead wrote that we'd just bought new loving room furniture. Total embarrassment, but we all had a good laugh about it.

The latest development of this short year occurred just this past Thursday when my boss quit suddenly. I'd worked for her at my previous company & followed her to the new company because I admire & respect her so much & knew there was so much I could learn from her. We're not sure what to expect, but we all know there will be a lot of work to do as we try to fill in until we find a replacement. I'm far from excited about the "opportunity" but am so thankful for the supportive friends and family who will get me through it!
