Time outs may not be working

So, we've been trying time-outs with Ryder for throwing food on the floor. He gets a warning & on the second offense he gets to sit on the door mat.

This does not seem to be having the effect we intend given his actions this morning.

While coloring at the table he either dropped or threw caps to his markers. Without warning he got off his chair & went to sit on the mat. I literally laughed out loud when he looked at me expectantly & I realized what he was doing!

Sweet boy. But I'm not sure how to discipline him if it's just a game to the little guy!

  1. Hahahahaha! Yea, we started time outs with Kaden this week. Charlie laughed when he came home and saw what I did. I have a little corner by the fireplace and I used two panels of an old playgate we had. I even put a sign on there that says "Kaden's Time Out" just in case anyone was wondering what it was there for! So far, just lots of crying and looks like why the heck are you doing this to me. But so far no change in behavior. Wowsers.
